Hundreds of family, friends and supporters joined CSUMB in Mahitopalooza, the first of many events to help fund-raise towards the Mahito Scholarship fund. There were non-stop festivities from 5 p.m. well into the night filled with laughter, shared memories and entertainment.

A Silent auction featured many items ranging from motorcycle gear, sports tickets, clothing, local treasures and more. Sierra Nevada and Tecate, two of Mahito’s favorite brews flowed on tap all evening. Hosted by comedian Myles Weber, it was a one-stop shop for entertainment as Mahitopalooza-goers listened to live stand-up comedy and a variety of music – an event Mahito himself would have enjoyed.

The Midtones, locally praised for their reggae good vibes and positive lyrics opened the event. Eliquate’s energy on stage and hip-hop beats kept the crowd wanting more. Lovable and twisted comic Candy Churilla felt like Happy Hour with your best friend, and headlining Comedy Central’s Comedian Joe Klocek truly brought the mood into uncontrollable laughter. The night ended with Cylinder giving it their all on stage, with lead singer Shane Geslin’s rock star charm and vocals, flying drumsticks, stage banter, mesmerizing lights and guitar solos. The crowd roared after each song from their 2010 debut album, 'Fueled by Fire.'

After the show, groups gathered meeting the celebrities of the night, friends hugged and laughed about the day’s events and participants took home their Mahito souvenirs. Although the clock passed way after 11 p.m. signaling the end of Mahitopalooza, the energy in the CSUMB university ballroom didn’t fade, and will always be remembered.
