Surrounded by a redwood forest and a cool Big Sur mist, the girls stood on a gently lit stage, draped with white lights, while honeymoon fans filled the seats for the EP "After The Flood" release concert being held at the Henry Miller Library in Big Sur, California on October 16th, 2010.  After rushing home from a seven hour drive from Los Angeles to see the girls in concert, I was a bit stressed out to say the least and looked forward to unwinding and watching honeymoon perform.

Each guest, including myself had been given a copy of honeymoon's EP and a sparkler upon arrival. The four singer/songwriter's Lauren Shera, Andrea Blunt, Christina Bailey and Sara Bollwinkel took the stage right on schedule with a stunning performance accompanied by Matt Bailey on drums and Matt Bollwinkel on bass.  A few songs into the concert, I heard a small sniffle and peered to my left to see a young woman who was so moved by the performance that tears flowed down her cheek.  It was truly that magical!  The four singers fell nothing shy of perfection, performing flawless compositions and delivering an impelling performance that captivated their audience!

The fans experienced something very special!  "honeymoon" measured up to the tranquil ambiance and throughout the show the girls remained fully engaged with their audience, sharing stories, explaining lyrics, even asking us to light up our sparklers while performing their last song "processional."  The crowd swayed their sparklers overhead, while honeymoon delivered a powerful final composition.  By shows end, the entirety of the evening was so fulfilling that it seemed to wash my own stress into another dimension.  "honeymoon" is a band that we will all be seeing and hearing a lot more of in the near future, coming highly recommended from me!  They delivered more than a concert; they delivered an experience, that touched the human spirit and fine-tuned the human ear to harmony's near perfection.  I can honestly say, I'd drive the seven hours any day to see that venue again.

Interviewing the young ladies came effortlessly as each were well spoken, kind and as genuine as they come!  After complimenting their performance and some small every day chit-chat, we began our interview.

TM: How did all four of you come together as a group?

honeymoon: "We were all big fans of each other prior to joining as a group and each had a flourishing solo career!" Lauren added saying, "I remember seeing each of them play at Monterey Live and being in awe of each of their music." Christina continued, "One day we all decided to play together, just for the fun of it.  When we sang our first song we all looked at each other and just knew their was something magical going on."  Sara added, "We actually wrote our first song as a group that evening!"

TM:  What made you pick the name Honeymoon for your band?

honeymoon:  "The meaning of Honeymoon refers to new relationships referring to the harmony and goodwill that are a part of that relationship."  Adding, "It was perfect and we all agreed."  With a sudden giggle they added, "We actually discussed some of these details, and threw around names over email, texts and Facebook of all things."

TM: I understand you just opened up for Ray LaMontagne and David Gray at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, what was that like?

honeymoon [All replying with serious faces and big eyes]:  It was absolutely magical! "Perfect," one said!  "Unexplainable!" "Out of this world!" Finishing with "What more could we ask for?"

TM: What is the main difference, being on the road as a group as oppose to playing solo?

honeymoon:  Lauren answered, "It's just so great to have someone to travel with; to be on stage and know that you have three other amazing women right next to you!"  Continuing, "We all get along so well, it's just right!"

TM:  When writing a song, how do all four of you come together for that process and do one of you do more of the writing than the others?

honeymoon:  Andrea gently answered, "We all talk, share our thoughts and it seems to all flow.  Everyone's input is equally as important, so we all have to feel it's right."

TM:  You're not only singer/songwriters, each of you play an instrument.  Were all of you instrumentally advanced prior to coming together, or were there any of you that had to learn?

honeymoon:  "We all started playing instruments when we were young.  We have Lauren on the acoustic guitar and banjo, Christina on the guitar, Sara on the violin, and Andrea on piano, accordion, and violin."  Christina added, "I was aware when I was young that I needed to learn to play an instrument to help me with my singing/songwriting."

TM: There is something raw and organic when you perform.  Is what I'm seeing and hearing what you're feeling?  You all seem to be exactly where you should be?

honeymoon: "That's exactly how we feel", said Andrea  Continuing, "I believe we all get lost in the moment; we are all in a place where we can truly express ourselves when we sing."

TM:  What is the next step you look forward too?

honeymoon:  Lauren replied "That's just it, we are so happy with what we've accomplished that we feel we are living the dream already, by getting to perform for audiences and doing what we love no matter how big or small the venue is."  Adding, "So I just look forward to the next show!" [All others agreed]

TM:  Do you have a favorite spot to perform in?

honeymoon:  "Yes! Henry Miller Library is our spot where we feel the magic.  It's home!" Lauren answered.  Sara quickly replied, "Well, I'm not going to single out the Greek Theatre, that was pretty cool."  The other two nodded their heads up and down, agreeing with them both.
