Thank you for dining with us at the Baja Cantina Grill and Filling Station in Carmel Valley.

Our primary theme and décor depicts the history of automobiles, racing, oil, and gas on the Monterey Peninsula and California. Wealso honor those drivers that contributed so much to the development of the modern day automobile. With ourcollection of memorabilia we take you back to the roads, gas stations, racetracks, characters, and cars that wereso familiar from the early 1900’s through the 1950’s.

The front of our building is decorated like a roadside gas station, which you would find along any US highwayin the 1920’s and 30’s. It was a place to stop and fill up with good food and drink and take care of all yourautomotive needs. The Gilmore Oil Co. was the company that we chose for the front of the building. The GilmoreOil. Co. was a Los Angeles, California based company that did their best to promote their products through theirracing endeavors and their economy runs. They owned and operated a racetrack in downtown Los Angeles calledthe Gilmore Station, which is now the home of CBS television. They also sponsored many championship racecarsfrom the California racetracks to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. We believe that the Gilmore Oil Co. bestrepresents the glory days of automotive development. The Mobile Oil Corporation bought out Gilmore, like so many oil companies in 1941. A Gilmore gas station was located on Junipero Street in Carmel.

All of our décor is authentic and original. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions you have about ourmemorabilia.
